Currently I work freelance providing graphic design, art direction, and design consultation to a number of clients within entertainment and publishing. It's my job to pull parts, assets, pieces, and people together to create truly exciting products and marketing! At the moment, much of my work involves art direction and design on graphic novels and fiction books for a variety of demographics, and spans the entire process from development up to print run.
I worked with Rebellion and their imprint Solaris on science-fiction novel layouts and pre-press, as well as on tabletop game development for their boardgame Joyride - over 300% funded on Kickstarter!
Throughout 2022, I worked at Jagex, producing key art and marketing design for various titles, including Runescape, Old School Runescape, Melvor Idle, Space Punks, and This Means Warp. My responsibilities include logo and branding design, social media asset creation - particularly supporting video advertising - in-game graphic design, design for platforms such as Steam, game capture, key art for major content updates, and marketing materials.
I worked to support Creative Services by developing and creating rich media banners for both Runescape and Old School Runescape. I captured game footage and screens, as well as created bespoke renders using game assets, and designed compelling and engaging animated banners for old and new players alike.
I worked at Rocket X, producing marketing materials for fifteen managed brands. This included web-based and print marketing, involving email advertisements, display ads for across the web, physical mailers, and even television content! I've had the opportunity to work on nationwide campaigns, and expand my skillset into the are of 3D modelling, texturing and animating, in order to build assets for the brands. As Rocket X is a gambling operator, one of the big challenges is making sure to strictly adhere to advertising practices and comply with Gambling Commission rulings.
Additionally, I also designed many of Rocket X’s material for external and internal use, developing employee information references such as signage and books, and promotional material for industry events and publications.
Duties: Developing web and print design, marketing, team and project coordination. Duties also included proof reading, and editing of content to fit company design and advertising standards. Using Adobe Suite to create templates, assets, and print-ready designs. I was responsible for the 2016 rebrand and the current layout branding for books and printed products. Notably during 2021 I worked with Sweatdrop Studios again to project manage and design landmark anthologies that covered two decades of British small-press comics history across a whopping 700+ pages and almost thirty contributors!
Final Major Project: "What Is It Katy?", an interactive graphic novel in which the online audience could ask the protagonist questions to steer the story along. An experiment in interactive storytelling, which resulted in a successful crowdfunding of the paperback book!
Final Major Project: A design and layout pitch for a children's picture book, experimenting with integrating type and illustration together effectively.
